Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Ever wondered where you could find a list of google doodles to date? Official or unofficial? Want to share a doodle you created? or just want to see a doodle again that you liked so much? Well! here it is. While searcing something, I entered a nice blog that has a collection of official and unofficial Google logos.

The name of the blog is Google-Logos.com

This blog is created by two serious fans of Google and this blog shows a collection of official google logos, google holiday logos, google art, logos by google fans etc. The year archive lists logos from the year 1998 to 2008 and is in very organized way and easy to navigate.

In their Top Official Logos page, they show a precise collection of the top official logos designed by the Google designers. So I recommend to those; who are either Google fans or just interested in checking out their logos or to submit your own, Google-Logos is a nice place to do so.

No Bonus! Instead, Google gives G1 to the employees!

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Google, which we know as a tech giant of todays age is also hit by the economic crises. Each Year in the holidays/christmas season, they used to give away cash bonuses upto $30,000 to its employees. But this year Google gives G1 Android phone worth $180. It was kind of a dog food for Googlers. Google is considered one of the best place to work across the world, but this year, Googlers have got disappointed.

This is the official email by Google to its Employees. Email revealed by ValleyWag:

Googlers,

The holiday bonus is a Google tradition - it’s a great way to thank everyone for their hard work. In the past, we’ve done this in cash. This year, we’ve decided to give Googlers a different kind of present - a Dream phone (this is the same device T-Mobile markets as the G1). We’re really excited about getting the phone to more Googlers in more countries, and also seeing all the cool new things you do with it.

Shipping these special edition phones in such a short time frame (they were designed especially for Googlers with a ‘droid’ on the back) and making sure they would work anywhere in the world was no small feat. So a big thank you to the Android and Legal teams for making this happen. While these phones do not have SIM cards, they are unlocked so they can be used with the network provider of your choice. Plus - thanks to more fancy footwork from the Android team - they’ll work immediately as WiFi devices!

Google FriendConnect VS Facebook Connect VS MySpace DataAvailability! The Battle is On!

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Alright everyone! these days I am trying to generate some traffic to my blog, and for that matter I wanted to do this post at Saad Hamid’s blog as a guest post, but he didn’t even bother to reply. Never mind anywaysz :)

So yes the battle among the Internet giants is on! The facebook-Google controversy started a few months ago when Facebook banned google friendconnect and stopped it from accessing users data accusing that Google isn’t respecting facebook’s users’ privacy. Anyway what that really was about? is an old story! I then signed up with Google friendconnect to implement it on my site but didn’t get an approval mail from google. In the meantime, MySpace had jumped into the market aiming to become market leader by partnering with other companies.

Just a few days ago, I received an email from Google friendconnect stating their service is officially up and I should give it a try. But this isn’t all, the same day Facebook also launched it’s similar service called Facebook Connect. Facebook has already partnered with Digg, StummbleUpon and many others. While the competition is on fire, I gave a try to both Facebook Connect and Google FriendConnect.

Most of you might be confused that what these services are all about? Well! these are the data-portability services from internet giants that offer companies that want users to be able to use their Google and Facebook logins to enter third-party sites. It benefits users and third-party sites and allows Facebook and Google to collect more information about what users are doing online.

In my opinion, Facebook Connect has a great potential to grow because of its partnership with other companies. But the problem is that implementing Facebook Connect is very tricky! Whereas Google friendconnect can be implemented with ease.  This main reason of rapid growth of Google friendconnect is ease of installation.

I was able to install Facebook Connect! but still I have to figure out which one should I choose for my blog ;) Your suggestions are welcome. Go give them a try http://www.google.com/friendconnect/  and  http://developers.facebook.com/connect.php
