Not the Nano - It’s time for iPhone Elite!

Monday, December 29th, 2008

A New Zealand based iPhone Wannabe Mat Brady designs a new concept for iPhone. Mat is currently an unsatisfied user of Nokia N95 and wants to switch to iPhone. But wait a moment, he isn’t happy with the features of current iPhone also, so what exactly he wants is a customized iPhone with added features. So he presents his idea and is hopeful for consideration.

Here is his message to the Steve Jobs:

“Hi Steve,  As you can see I’ve made a few design suggestions to your iPhone. I’ve held off getting an iPhone until it gets a better camera. (See pic) Let me know when I can get rid of my N95.”

Cheers,
Mat Brady

Now the question arises that why does he want to go for an iPhone? I mean when he is asking for added feature, he could have asked for added features in any other phone or PDA, but Mat himself explains that he actually has become a fan of Mac since he bought 17″ MacBook Pro and 24″ iMac.

Now if we analyze the Mat’s proposed design, it seems to be quite nasty but interesting.

No Bonus! Instead, Google gives G1 to the employees!

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Google, which we know as a tech giant of todays age is also hit by the economic crises. Each Year in the holidays/christmas season, they used to give away cash bonuses upto $30,000 to its employees. But this year Google gives G1 Android phone worth $180. It was kind of a dog food for Googlers. Google is considered one of the best place to work across the world, but this year, Googlers have got disappointed.

This is the official email by Google to its Employees. Email revealed by ValleyWag:

Googlers,

The holiday bonus is a Google tradition - it’s a great way to thank everyone for their hard work. In the past, we’ve done this in cash. This year, we’ve decided to give Googlers a different kind of present - a Dream phone (this is the same device T-Mobile markets as the G1). We’re really excited about getting the phone to more Googlers in more countries, and also seeing all the cool new things you do with it.

Shipping these special edition phones in such a short time frame (they were designed especially for Googlers with a ‘droid’ on the back) and making sure they would work anywhere in the world was no small feat. So a big thank you to the Android and Legal teams for making this happen. While these phones do not have SIM cards, they are unlocked so they can be used with the network provider of your choice. Plus - thanks to more fancy footwork from the Android team - they’ll work immediately as WiFi devices!

Gizmodo has shared an interesting and anonymous conversation between the Googlers about their dream Christmas Bonus

Internet fever! half of the women prefer internet/blogging to Sex!

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Intel conducted an online survey to find out how important the usage of internet for women is, and why really they use internet, and would they prefer using internet to sex. This study shows interesting results. Half of the women from ages 18-34 say that they prefer internet. Yes! guys, that’s true! and most women use internet for blogging and for comparing the prises of different commodities and goods.

WSJ tech news reported:

An online survey commissioned by Intel has found, among other things, that 46% of women would rather go without sex for two weeks than give up the Internet for that long. The numbers get bigger for certain age groups; 49% of women aged 18-34 would make that choice, and 52% of women aged 35-44.

Now all I have to say is; beware guys! hehehe. I mean in todays world, men have been facing challenges in their sex life, now this is just another hurdle.

In my opinion, that study doesn’t depict eastern or asian girls; I mean most of them are sex addict and even they use internet mostly for dating purpose. ROFL what you think about it? do mention in comments :)

John McCain’s info-loaded Blackberry Leaked!

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

It might not be a big deal for McCain-Palin, but this definitely shows their carelessness. The buzz was created when FOX 5 News Reporter Tisha Thompson bought a $20 blackberry from bargain shop, upon checking it, Tisha was surprised to see the confidential election campaign information, emails and 50 important contact numbers in it.

When few of those numbers were called, they said that this phone should not be in the hands of anyone except McCain. When McCain and Palin were contacted about this, they confirmed that it was McCain’s phone and it is unfortunate that due to the carelessness of their staff, the phone wasn’t dispossed off properly. They further added that it is not a big thing because elections are over now the info in the phone is no longer applicable.

I salute to the intellectual level of Governor Palin, even the info was outdated, it still reflects their unprofessionalism and carelessness. Afterall this is not the way of disposing off the outdated campaign plans or informations.

Twitter Security Hole! A Nightmare?

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The Brian Shelar Blog raised an important issue regarding Twitter’s serious security hole. Basically, it tells how your twitter account is taken over when you share your twitter login credentials with anyone. Later, even changing your password doesn’t help.

Another important issue with Twitter is that it has not implemented OAuth yet. OAuth is an open protocol to allow secure API authorization in a simple and standard method from desktop and web applications. So, for that matter, any 3rd party needs your login credentials in order to fetch your data from your Twitter Account.

Remember that Twitterank’s scandal? Similar other services like Twitter KarmaSocialToo ask for your Twitter login details to tell you your rank or some other info that is really of no use. But remember! no matter even if you dont care about hacking of your Twitter Account, you ARE at risk! because the hacker might be guessing your login credentials for other services and accounts also, or even the hacker might get to the login details of your financial services’ online accounts. So it is always risky. Be careful while handling over your login credentials to any 3rd party, especially when the service itself has loopholes.

Similar is the case when you invite your friends on facebook, orkut, myspace etc, they ask you to enter your Email and Password. They also display a note that they don’t store your email login information anywhere, and you have no other option except for trusting them. And Yes! there is no harm in trusting reputable brands but Think Thrice! before entering your login information into an unknown or just another 3rd party app or service. Some online FTP services are also reported to have such login storing features, therefor don’t just jump onto any unknown service.
