Critical Interview: Saad Hamid of Sizlopedia.Com!

Saad Hamid is a 20 years old talented blogger and entrepreneur from Islamabad, Pakistan. He has already achieved milestones by having a perfect start of his career. Nonetheless, he is quite famous in Pakistani blogosphere. Obviously our readers will like to hear from Saad. So taking this opportunity, I have invited Saad today. I tried to trap him with the controversial questions, but he managed to escape by giving diplomatic answers ; )

Salam-o-Alaikum(Greetings) Saad! And thanks for taking time for the interview.

W/Salam, Pleasure.

Q:1) When did you start your blog and what motivated you to do so?

I started my blog back in January 2007. The basic motivation for me was to explore new areas of technology and share my knowledge on a platform which is global.

Q:2) Please tell us something about the current developments of Sizlopedia?

Sizlopedia has evolved a lot over time. Back in 2007 it was merely a blog with random articles ad no focus on a particular niche but with time, I have managed to settle the priorities and now Sizlopedia is quite widely known for its critique software reviews, OS and gadget rumors and a perfect blend of tips and hacks.

Q:3) What are your future plans? Planning for any other startup besides Sizlo?

Indeed I am. I won’t spill much for now but I plan to start a blog network soon of an enterprise level at Sizlomedia.com with some of the best writers on the web.

Q:4) In your opinion, what is the importance of blog? Especially in a society like Pakistan’s where people are already misrepresented.

A blog has the same importance in today’s world as human-messengers in the era of Pharoah.

Communication is now global and fast and a blog does the same in serving as a medium for a speaker to convery his/her message to his audience all around the world.

Q:5) Keeping Pakistani environment in mind, what do you see the future of Pakistan’s blogosphere?

Pakistan’s blogosphere has a very bright future and I don’t say this without facts. Now a days I see youngsters making use of this medium and opting it as a profession rather than just a part-time recreation.

Youth is really getting into it which in turn is helping Pakistan raise issues and call for global help.

Q:6) What role do you think blogging can play in Pakistan? Especially, when there is a political turmoil in Pakistan?

It simply makes communication more stronger for us. We are no longer restricted to mainstream TV and radio channels as we have a more power media in our hands.

The ease of usability and power of amplification makes blogging the perfect medium for a common man to share his thoughts with an audience of millions sitting across the globe.

Q:7) How would you relate blogging with entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurship is based on the idea of starting a business and taking all measures to expand it.

Likewise, in blogging one starts a blog with a particular idea or niche in mind and tries to get more exposure while keeping in mind the risks involved.

Q:8) Do you think such blogs/small businesses can help us to stabilize our economy?

Definitely yes!. With the amount of unemployment that I see in my country, there is no doubt that blogging can turn out to be one of the best professions in Pakistan, only if people take it seriously and don’t look for shortcuts.

Q:9) Do you think you have already got your destination? Or this is just a star of your career?

It’s a start I say. I have yet to learn a lot more and a lot is to be experimented on. I just hope I do well in future.

Q:10) You have been accused of being arrogant on certain blogs and twitter? What would you like to say about it?

Arrogance is a word of relative strength I guess. Spoon-feeding is not my thing and I really do not like people who ask me to help them out and don’t bother to search for answers themselves.

Also! A blogger’s task is to communicate through what he writes not by giving lessons to others on how to blog.

Our community, I am afraid to say, still doesn’t really quite get the meaning of blogging.

Q:11) Specifically, you are accused of insulting seniors and trying to invade Pakistani blogosphers. How would you defend yourself?

I am still very much against people who abuse their right of freedom of speech and use blog as a platform to humiliate other people. As I already said, our community is still oblivious of understanding blogging and accepting their responsibilities as a blogger. So whether its a new one or a senior, they will have to be told about what they have done wrong and that’s exactly what I did.

As for invading Pakistan’s blogosphere, I will try to make this as less humorous as possible by asking if such a thing is even possible?

Q:12) How does the local industry treat you? Do they welcome you are you feel you are the victim of Professional Jealousy/Rivalry? Please feel free to elaborate.

Local industry is basically mixed with people of three unique tastes. Those who praise you for what you do, those who dislike you as their minds are stuffed with jealousy and those who actually like what you do but don’t really praise you for doing it.

As for me, I have encountered people with all such tastes and I find it quite experience-gaining.

Q:13) Who are your favorite Pakistani bloggers?

Dr. Awab from Teeth.com.pk and Aamir from ProPakistani.com

Q:14) What are your favorite international bloggers?

I won’t be able to narrow down to only the favorites here as there is a whole variety of International bloggers that I follow very closely.

Q:15) Any suggestions you’d like to give to the young entrepreneurs?

Be focused and treat all set-backs as steps to another door of success. Have faith in what you do and never let the bad ones get on to you.
